SUBJECT
E70 with ZF 6HP26TU - Delayed Up-shift in Hill Program

MODEL
E70, X5 4.8 with N62TU and 6HP26TU up to 04/27/09

SITUATION
When driving in a mountainous area, the customer may complain that the transmission holds the lower gear after reaching the top of the hill and lifting the foot from the gas pedal. The expected up-shift does not occur unless the S (or M) mode is selected, or the vehicle is driven for an extended period of time.

CAUSE
EGS calibration error

The time period needed for switching from the Hill Mode (A3) to the Economy Mode (XE) is excessive.

CORRECTION
Reprogram the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.33.2 or higher (target integration level E070-09-03-525).
