Engine Controls - Oil Ageing Message After Programming

SUBJECT
QMVH Fault Code 58E2, "Oil Ageing"

MODEL
E71 (X6) with N54 or N63 engine

SITUATION
After programming with the current Program or ISTA/P version, fault code 58E2, "Oil ageing", is stored in the QMVH (rear differential with superimposing gear units) control module.

CAUSE
Erroneous fault in the diagnostic software of the QMVH control unit

This diagnostic software error would not cause any drivability problems, nor would it illuminate a warning lamp in the instrument cluster.

CORRECTION
Ignore the fault. Resetting of the oil aging status will be corrected with ISTA/P programming software version P2.33.0.

Do not replace any components, and do not change the oil in the rear differential for this fault.

With ISTA diagnosis software version ISTAD2 2.11.0, the fault code 58E2 can be cleared. Planned release is 1/09.
