Preparation, Wheel/Axle Alignment

Preparation For Wheel Alignment

This service function has been created to facilitate wheel alignment. The service function sets a suitable height for the wheel alignment. The service function has been created for E70 vehicles with fitted level control only.

Service functions

Preparation for wheel alignment
- The service function includes the following steps:
- Check of the ride-height-calibration.
- Check of the heights at the rear axle
- Raising the rear axle if the heights are too low.

Before preparation for wheel alignment is applied, the following points must be observed:

The vehicle must be in a horizontal position.

The chassis must not be tensioned.

The air suspension must have ceased operation (to be safe, switch the engine on and off).

The supply must be ensured (check battery voltage).

Recognition of the fitted control modules.

Setting the transport mode if level control is fitted.

Reading in the rim size and actual values.

Adjustment of the level control.

After checking the ride-height-calibration, compare the current height values with those in the repair instructions.

If the vehicle is too low, the vehicle is automatically raised at the rear by a few millimeters. This means that the vehicle can subsequently be brought to the construction position with weights.

After performing the wheel alignment, make sure that you delete the transport mode with the control module functions.
