SUBJECT
Differential Output Flange Loose (QMVH)
MODEL
E71 [NEW] produced from 11/16/2007 through 6/21/2008
SITUATION
The customer may complain of an oil leak from the rear of the car and/or a whining noise heard from the rear of the car while driving.
CAUSE
[NEW] One of the output flanges on the Dynamic Performance Control differential (QMVH) has come out of the superimposing gear unit. When the flange is inserted back into the differential, there is no positive engagement of the retaining clip.
CORRECTION
[NEW] Replace the output flange, flange retaining clip, and the output seal on both axles, using repair kit P/N 33 10 7 594 401. Refer to Repair Instruction RA33 10 021.
