54 10 ... Notes on cleaning the guide rail panorama glass roof when installed
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove glass slide/tilt sunroof cover at front
- Remove glass slide/tilt sunroof cover at rear
- Remove front water gutter
- Fully open glass slide/tilt sunroof cover mechanism
To clean the guide rails, use cleaning kit with part number 54 10 7 306 684.
Insert cleaning cloth (2) in guide rail as illustrated.
Place cleaning tool (1) on cloth (2) and screw-in in direction of arrow.
Pull cleaning kit (1) and (2) from front to rear through guide rail.
Remove dirt contamination from end of guide rail.
Reapply grease to guide rail.
Move glass slide/tilt sunroof cover mechanism into tilt position for cleaning remaining front sliding surfaces.
Use cleaning cloth to clean dirt and old grease from following components:
- Control carriage, wind deflector
- Spring carriage
- Lower gate at front
- Upper gate at front
Wind deflector control carriage:
Slide wind deflector control carriage (1) to the front for cleaning and afterwards reapply grease.
Use cleaning cloth to clean guide rail at spring carriage in the marked area.
Wipe marked area of top and bottom gate with the cloth.
Reapply grease to components.
Move glass slide/tilt sunroof cover mechanism into "closed"position for cleaning rear sliding surfaces.
Use cleaning cloth to clean dirt and old grease from following components:
- Sliding surface of rear bottom gate
- Guide rail up to rear end of glass slide/tilt sunroof cover
Rear bottom gate:
Clean sliding surface of bottom gate with the cleaning cloth and then reapply grease.
Guide rail up to rear end of glass slide/tilt sunroof cover:
Clean rear guide rail with cleaning kit (cloth and tool) and reapply grease.
After installation:
Initialise panorama glass roof.
