Ignition Switch


The ignition switch is located on the top of the steering column under the instrument panel. To replace it, the steering column must be lowered.

1. Lower steering column as outlined in ``Column Mounted Dimmer Switch, Replace'' procedure.
2. Remove column mounted dimmer switch, if equipped.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from switch. On models equipped with standard column and key release feature or tilt column except key release, ensure switch is in ``Accessory'' position. On models equipped with standard column except key release or tilt column with key release, ensure switch is in ``Off-Unlock'' position.
4. Remove two screws securing switch, then remove switch.
5. On models equipped with standard column and key release feature or tilt column except key release, position switch slider and lock in the ``Accessory'' position. On models equipped with standard column except key release or tilt column with key release, position switch slider and lock at ``Accessory'' position, then move slider and lock two detents to the ``Off-Unlock'' position.
6. Fit actuator rod into switch and assemble to column.
7. Complete assembly in reverse of removal procedure.
