Timing Chain Cover - Parts Catalog Correction

ATTENTION PARTS MANAGERS BE SURE TO REVIEW THIS INFORMATION WITH ALL NECESSARY SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL
The current GMWDD Parts Catalog incorrectly indicates that the 1986 and 1987 timing chain cover and oil pressure relief valve for 3.0L (VIN Code L) and 3.8L (VIN Code 3) engines are serviced using the same parts. This is incorrect! The 1987 cover and valve are different.
Use of the new valve in the old cover will produce abnormally high oil pressures and possible oil leaks. Use of the old valve in the new cover will result in loss of oil pressure, and the oil pressure light will come on.
