EGR Valve: Service and Repair

Air Cleaner Assembly:

REMOVAL:
1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove EGR vacuum hose.
3. Remove EGR retaining nuts.

EGR Removal And Installation:

4. Remove EGR valve.


INSPECTION AND CLEANING:
1. If EGR passages in the inlet manifold indicate excessive build-up of deposits, the passages should be cleaned.
2. With a wire wheel, buff the exhaust deposits from the mounting surface and around the valve.
3. Look for exhaust deposits in the valve outlet. Remove deposit build-up with a screwdriver.
4. Clean mounting surfaces of intake manifold and valve assembly.


INSTALLATION:
1. Install EGR valve on intake manifold using a new gasket.
2. Attach and tighten nuts.
Torque Value: 16 lb. ft. (22 N-m)
3. Reconnect vacuum hose.
4. Reinstall air cleaner assembly.
