Inspection

1. Inspect forward clutch housing for cracks and broken welds.

2. Inspect inputs shaft splines and journals.

3. Inspect sleeve, alignment and tightness. Sleeve must not turn and slot must line up with input shaft hole.

4. Inspect piston, selective snap ring, and insert for damage or cracks.

5. Inspect spring guide, retainer and spring assembly.

6. Inspect composition and steel plates for wear of burning, replace as necessary. Lubricate composition plates with Dexron II when replacing.

7. Inspect wave plates for wear, burning or flatness. Replace as necessary.

8. Check backing plate for damage or cracks.
