Part 3 of 3
Chart C-10 - Part 3 Of 3:
A/C Circuit Control:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The A/C relay is PCM controlled to delay A/C clutch engagement 0.4 seconds after A/C is turned "ON". This allows the IAC to adjust engine rpm before the A/C clutch engages. The PCM may also apply the A/C clutch during cranking to prevent A/C slugging. The PCM also causes the relay to disengage the A/C clutch during WOT operation. The A/C relay is energized when the PCM provides a ground path for CKT 366.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
8. "A/C Request" on the scanner should not display "YES" with A/C "OFF".
9. This test located source of false A/C request signal.
10. Isolates A/C clutch from its control circuitry.
11. Determines whether a faulty relay or relay control circuit is the cause of clutch not disengaging
