Manual Second
Manual Second:
MANUAL SECOND
CONVERTER CLUTCH - RELEASED
SECOND CLUTCH - APPLIED
INPUT CLUTCH - APPLIED
INPUT SPRAG - OVERRUNNING
1-2 BAND - APPLIED
When the selector lever is moved to the Manual Second (2) position, the manual valve directs line pressure into the Drive 2 (D2) passage. Drive 2 oil closes the 2-3 shift valve to allow for the following changes to occur:
1. Third clutch and 1-2 servo release oil exhausts at a rate controlled by the 3.2 control valve and the 3-2 coast valve for proper shift timing of the third clutch exhaust and the 1-2 servo apply.
2. Drive 4 oil fills the 2-3 accumulator exhaust passage and applies the 1-2 servo.
3. Line pressure keeps the input clutch applied.
4. Drive 2 oil shifts the 1-2 servo control valve to provide a quick feed and apply of the 1-2 servo.
SUMMARY
The transaxle can shift between First and Second Gear as in Drive Range, but is prevented from shifting to Third Gear. Line pressure is the same as in Drive Range.
