Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

Power Steering Pressure Switch Circuit.:

PURPOSE
This switch informs the PCM when the power steering pressure is high. During high pressure conditions, the PCM will increase idle speed to compensate for the additional load.

OPERATION
The switch is normally open and will close when the power steering fluid pressure is high, such as when the vehicle is in a parking maneuver.

LOCATION
The power steering pressure switch is located in the high pressure power steering line.
