Chart 1C-2 Insufficient or No Cooling

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The H-A/C control sends a voltage through CKT 1199 corresponding to the position of the temperature slide lever. The H-A/C sends 0 volts in the extreme cold position, 12 volts in the extreme hot position or a voltage proportional to any intermediate setting. The electric actuator has an internal potentiometer in it Using internal feedback from the "POT," the electric actuator can move the temperature valve to its commanded position.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
1. If vehicle is not equipped with engine driven cooling fan, check primary (right-hand) cooling fan for operation during air conditioning operation. If fan is inoperative, refer to C-Chart C12 in Powertrain Management for diagnosis.
2. Check the condenser for debris which may obstruct airflow through the fins.
3. With air conditioning system operating, check accumulator assembly temperature. Accumulator assembly temperature should be near freezing (cold to touch). If this is not true, service the refrigeration system.
4. Check the plenum area (at base of windshield) for any debris which may prevent proper airflow into the vehicle interior.
