Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS:

IMPORTANT: The "Set to get Cruise" feature requires the operator to set the initial set speed by using the "Set/Coast" button before the "Resume/Accel" slider switch input will be recognized.

IMPORTANT: The "Brake Before Cruise" feature requires the cruise module to see terminal "D" change states, once each Ignition Cycle before allowing Cruise Control. (Some Cruise Modules will use either terminal "D" or "G".)

1. Check that Cruise Control Module Linkage is connected and moving freely.
^ Cruise won't function with Hazard Lights "ON."
^ Make sure that CKT 17 and the stoplamps are working properly. If inoperative, Cruise Module will be disabled.
^ Cruise performance can be affected by trailer towing and steep grades.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems refer Diagnostic Aids. Diagnostic Aids
