ENGINE REMOVAL

Remove or Disconnect
1. Hood.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Depressurize fuel lines.
4. Drain coolant and engine oil.
5. Radiator and heater supply hoses.
6. Negative battery cable from engine block.
7. Engine harness connector at bulkhead.
8. Drive belt(s).
9. Power steering pump and set aside.
10. Air flow duct.
11. Throttle cable from throttle linkage mounting bracket, and other applicable cables.
12. Wiring harness connectors from:
a. Mat Sensor.
b. Throttle position sensor.
c. Idle air control valve.
d. Oxygen sensor.
e. A/C compressor.
f. Oil pressure switch.
g. Power steering cutout switch.
h. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
i. Low oil level sensor.

13. Ignition coil assembly ground strap from fender inner panel attaching screws.
14. Fuel feed and return lines from fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator.
15. Emission control canister hoses from throttle body connections.
16. Brake booster and heater control hoses from engine vacuum connections.
17. Vacuum hoses at cruise control, servo assembly.
18. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
19. Exhaust pipe from right manifold.
20. Air conditioning compressor and tie back compressor away from engine.
21. Right front engine to transaxle bracket.
22. Flywheel cover.
23. Starter motor.
24. Torque converter to flywheel bolts.
^ Use a scribe to mark flywheel to torque converter relationship to assure proper reassembly.

25. Lower vehicle.
26. Attach suitable lifting hook and chain to engine lifting brackets, raise engine slightly to take weight off mounts.
27. Torque axis engine mount.
28. Support transaxle and remove engine to transaxle bolts.
29. Separate engine from transaxle and raise engine.

Install or Connect
1. Lower engine assembly.
2. Engine to transaxle bolts.
3. Torque axis engine mount.
4. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
5. Torque converter to flywheel bolts with converter to flywheel in same relationship as before disassembly.
6. Starter motor.
7. Flywheel cover.
8. Right front engine to transaxle bracket.
9. Air conditioner compressor.
10. Exhaust pipe to right manifold.
11. Lower vehicle.
12. Vacuum hoses at cruise control, servo assembly.
13. Brake booster and heater control hoses to engine vacuum connections.
14. Emission control canister hoses to throttle body connections.
15. Fuel feed and return lines to fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator.
16. Ignition coil assembly ground strap to fender inner panel.
17. Wiring harness connectors to:
a. Mat sensor.
b. Throttle position sensor.
c. Idle air control valve.
d. Oxygen sensor.
e. A/C compressor.
f. Oil pressure switch.
g. Power steering switch.
h. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
i. Low oil level sensor.

18. Throttle cable to throttle linkage, mounting bracket and other applicable cables.
19. Air flow duct.
20. Power steering pump to engine.
21. Drive belt(s).
22. Engine harness connector to bulkhead.
23. Negative battery cable to engine block.
24. Radiator and heater supply hoses.
25. Add coolant and engine oil.
26. Negative battery cable.
27. Check for:
^ Proper oil level.
^ Fluid levels.
^ Fluid leaks.
^ For proper completion of repairs.
