Power and Ground Distribution: Description and Operation

The generator provides electrical power with the engine running. Schematics show how each circuit gets its power. See generator, battery, and starter connection details.

The vehicle's power distribution system consists of fuses, Circuit breakers, and the ignition switch. See I/P fuse block/relay center details for complete wiring to the first component in each circuit. Electrical Diagrams

The ignition switch has six positions, four of which detents. The "BULB TEST" position is after the "RUN" position and just before the "START" position. "BULB TEST" and "START" do not have detents. As shown on the schematic, circuits which are supplied power from the ignition switch are "ON" (hot) in different switch positions. Individual schematics show their fuses supplied from headings such as HOT IN RUN. The heading corresponds to the ignition switch position in which power is "ON" and also shows if the circuit remains powered during Retained Accessory Power (RAP).
