Accumulator: Service and Repair






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Drain fluid.





3. Oil pan bolts, oil pan and gasket.
4. Oil filter, using long screwdriver to pry filter neck out of seal.
5. Check oil filter seal for damage or wear. As needed, remove seal using tools J 6125-B and J 23129.





6. Attaching bolts.





7. Accumulator assembly, 2-1 manual servo piston assembly and filter, and seal.
^ To disassemble and inspect the accumulator and 2-1 manual servo assemblies, refer to TRANSMISSION UNIT REPAIR. Disassembled views are shown for reference only.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. 2-1 manual servo piston assembly, filter and seal.

Important: The seal must be installed as shown. If it is not installed, or is installed in the wrong location, the transaxle will operate only in "Reverse".

2. Accumulator assembly and attaching bolts.
^ Tighten bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
3. New filter seal, if removed.
4. Oil filter.
5. Oil pan gasket; gasket may be re-used, unless sealing ribs are damaged. If damaged, use new gasket.
6. Oil pan and attaching bolts.
^ Tighten pan bolts to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Refill transaxle to proper level.
9. Check oil pan gasket for leaks.
