Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM)

The MAGNASTEER system has software contained in the Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM). It processes vehicle speed information from the ABS wheel speed sensors to provide a control signal to the MAGNASTEER actuator located in the power steering gear.

Two diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the EBCM/EBTCM for the MAGNASTEER system. If DTC C1273 sets, a malfunction code is stored, MAGNASTEER is disabled, the ABS warning indicator is turned ON and the ABS is disabled. If DTC C1274 sets, a malfunction code is stored and MAGNASTEER is disabled but, no action toward the ABS warning indicator or the ABS is taken. A difference in power steering effort may be felt if a MAGNASTEER DTC sets.
