Correction
A new shifter boot has been released for service to correct this condition. This new shifter boot has an added patch to prevent premature wear. Replace the shifter boot using the procedure and part number listed below.

Do not replace Automatic Transmission Control Assembly, P/N 12568203, when the shifter boot requires replacement. The shifter boot can now be replaced separately from the control assembly.

1.2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the traction control switch, if equipped.
1.3. Remove the console front trim plate from the vehicle.
2. Remove the shift knob.
3. Release the four clips securing the indicator plate to the shifter assembly.
4. Remove the indicator plate and the boot.
5. Install the indicator plate and the boot. Secure the indicator plate with the four clips.
6. Install the shift knob.
7. Install the console front trim plate.
7.1. Connect the electrical connectors to the traction control switch.
7.2. Position the console front trim plate tabs to the retainers in the console.
