Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Replacement (Non-D55)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint System).
3. Remove the 2 tapping screws (1) from the bottom of the upper head housing assembly.
4. Remove the interlock solenoid assembly (2) from the column.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the vehicle wire harness.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the steering column filler panel.
2. Install the interlock solenoid assembly (2) to the column.
3. Install the 2 tapping screws (1) to the upper head housing assembly in the following order:
3.1. Seat one screw on the left side of the column.
3.2. Seat the other screw on the right side of the column.
^ Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Connect the electrical connector to the vehicle wire harness.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint System).
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
