Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the EGR outlet pipe for leaks, whenever the pipe is removed from the right hand exhaust manifold. If a leak exists, replace the EGR adapter.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
4. Remove the transmission oil level indicator. Remove the indicator tube assembly.
5. Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connector.





6. Remove the two bolts attaching the right exhaust manifold to the crossover pipe.
7. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle.
8. Remove the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold, and the attaching nuts.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the engine lift bracket.





11. Remove the exhaust manifold studs.
12. Remove the exhaust manifold.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the exhaust manifold studs and bolts.
^ Tighten the studs and the bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the engine lift bracket.
4. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle.
5. Install the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
6. Lower the vehicle.





7. Install the two bolts attaching the right exhaust manifold to the crossover pipe.
^ Tighten the crossover pipe bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

8. Install the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
9. Install the transmission oil level indicator and the indicator tube.
10. Install the throttle cable bracket.
11. Connect the spark plug wires to the sparkplugs.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
