Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the rear air intake duct clamp (2).
2. Remove the air intake duct (1).




3. Disconnect the IAT sensor electrical connector (2) from the IAT sensor (3). Refer to IAT Sensor Replacement.
4. Release both air cleaner cover latches (4).
5. Remove the bolt through the air cleaner assembly to side rail.
6. Pivot the air cleaner and intake air duct assembly toward the front of the vehicle.
7. Remove the air cleaner assembly (1).
8. Inspect air filter element (5).
9. Remove any loose debris that may be found laying in the base of the air cleaner.
10. Remove the base.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install a new air filter element (5) into the base.
2. Snap the front edge of the air cleaner lid (1) into the slots in the front edge of the air cleaner base.
3. Install the bolt through the air cleaner assembly to side rail.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

IMPORTANT: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the inlet duct must be lined up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause Incorrect air flow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveablity concern.




4. Pivot air cleaner cover and duct assembly down until the two latches (4) in the cover engage in the air cleaner base.
5. Inspect to be sure that both latches latch.
6. Install the intake air duct over the throttle body (1), being careful to ensure that the intake air duct is secure around the entire outer edge of the throttle body.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp (2) assembly to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




7. Connect the IAT sensor connector (2) to the IAT sensor (3).
