Seat Belt System Circuit Description

Seat Belt Retractors
The seat belt retractor system automatically retracts the driver's and the passenger's seat belts. The left seat belt retracts when the following conditions are met:
^ The car is stopped.
^ The driver's seat belt is unbuckled.
^ The left door is opened.

The passenger's seat belt retracts in the same way when the right door is opened. Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied to each seat belt retractor actuator at all times through the RH rear fuse block PWR DR LK Fuse via CKT 1540 (ORN).

When a door is opened, the respective front door lock actuator closes. This action applies ground to the appropriate seat belt retractor actuator. The LH seat belt actuator receives ground via CKT 155 (BLK). The RH seat belt actuator receives ground via CKT 528 (YEL). When a seat belt retractor actuator receives power and ground, the belt retractor retracts the seat belt.

Shoulder Belt Comfort Feature
The occupant of the front seats can adjust the amount of slack in their shoulder belt. To set the comfort level for the shoulder belt, perform the following steps:
1. Sit well back in the seat.
2. Pull the shoulder belt out.
3. Just before the belt reaches the end, pull the belt quickly.
4. Let the belt go back all the way. You should hear a slight clicking sound.
5. Pull the shoulder belt out just slightly. The shoulder belt will retain the slack setting.
