A/T Shift Lock Control Description - Tilt

The Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) system prevents the automatic transaxle from being shifted out of PARK when the brake pedal is not depressed. When the brake pedal is depressed, the BTSI actuator releases the park lock cable. This allows the following to occur:
- The column shift cable to move
- The shift lever to operate

During service, you may override the BTSI system by turning the ignition lock to OFF. This removes battery voltage from the actuator and de-energizes the actuator.
