External Leakage Check

Seepage-type leaks may be difficult to isolate. In order to locate seepage leaks, use the following method:
1. With the engine off, wipe dry the complete power steering system:
- The rack and pinion gear
- The pump
- The hoses
- The connections

2. Inspect the fluid level in the pump's reservoir. Add fluid if necessary.
3. Start the engine.
4. Turn the steering wheel from stop to stop several times.

Notice: Do not hold the steering wheel in the full turn position longer than 5 seconds, as damage to the steering pump may result.

5. Ask an assistant to operate the steering wheel while you search for the seepage.
6. Locate the exact area of the leak.
