Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement (Right)
Removal Procedure1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body and Frame.
4. Remove the right stabilizer shaft link from the right lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
5. Remove the right tie rod end from the right steering knuckle. Refer to Tie Rod End Replacement-Outer-Off Vehicle in Steering and Suspension.
6. Remove the right lower ball joint from the right steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
7. Disconnect the right drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement in Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints.
8. Secure the right drive axle to the right steering knuckle and strut.
9. Use a screwdriver or other suitable tool to pry out the seal. Do NOT damage the seal bore.
Installation Procedure

- J29130 Right Side Axle Seal Installer
- J37292-B Axle Seal Protector
1. Use a light wipe of transaxle fluid to lubricate the seal lip.
2. Use the J29130to install a new seal.
3. Install the J37292-B in the seal.
Important: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface or damage to the seal will occur.
4. Connect the drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints.
5. Remove the J37292-B.
6. Install the right lower ball joint to the right steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
7. Install the right tie rod end to the right steering knuckle. Refer to Tie Rod End Replacement-Outer-Off Vehicle in Steering and Suspension.
8. Install the right stabilizer shaft link to the right steering knuckle. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
9. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body and Frame.
10. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Adjust the fluid level.
13. Inspect for proper completion of the repairs.
14. Inspect for proper fluid level. Refer to Transmission fluid Checking Procedure.
15. Inspect for fluid leaks.
