Dash Area - Squeaks And Rattles

Dash Area Squeaks and Rattles
(Install Insulator Tape)

Models:
2000-2001 Buick LeSabre

Condition

Some customers may comment about a rattle near the radio.

Correction





Remove the bolster by pulling rearward and add felt tape to the left upper corner of the bolster as shown in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a rattle on the right side.

Correction





Remove the bolster by pulling rearward and add felt tape to the right upper corner of the bolster as shown in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a rattle in the front of the dash (right or left side).

Correction





Remove the "A" pillar trim and apply felt tape to the lower tip of the "A" pillar trim as shown in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a tick-type noise from the top of the dash.

Correction





Add felt tape to the top of the dash board carrier in the location shown in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a rattle from the top of the dash.

Correction





Apply felt tape to the retaining clips on the defroster grill. Refer to the arrows in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a rattle coming from the center of the dash.

Correction





Loosen the wood trim and center it in the opening, so that it is not hard up against the dash. Refer to arrow in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a glove box key cylinder rattle.

Correction





Remove the key cylinder. Clean the two areas shown by the arrows in the illustration above. Cut a small piece of felt tape and apply the felt tape to the top of the two areas shown in the illustration above.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a glove box squeak.

Cause

The hole in the back of the glove box may be undersize which causes a squeak when it comes in contact with the locating pin.

Correction





Remove the glove box and enlarge the locating hole in the glove box.

Condition

Some customers may comment about a rattle on the left side of the dash near the light switch.

Cause

The headlight switch terminal retainers may be loose.

Correction

Remove the terminal retainer and pack the terminal cavities with dielectric grease. Then reinstall the terminal retainer.
