Installation Procedure
1. Install the oil pump pipe and screen. Refer to Oil Pump Suction Pipe and Screen Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.
2. Apply a continuous bead 3.0 mm (0.19 in) thick of RTV GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent to the oil pan flange on the block as well as an additional drop to all four corners of the block where the front and rear covers meet (1).
3. Install the oil pan.
4. Apply one drop of GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to each bolt.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
5. Install the oil pan bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 14 Nm (124 lb in).
6. Install the torque converter cover. Refer to Torque Converter Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
Notice: Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.
7. Install the engine oil level sensor into the oil pan.
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil level sensor to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
8. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the engine oil level sensor.
9. Install the right engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side Engine Mount Bracket Replacement.
10. Fill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement Service and Repair.
11. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
