Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement - Right^ Tools Required
- J 23129 Seal Remover
- J 6125-1B Slide Hammer
- J 29130 Right Side Axle Seal Installer
- J 8092 Driver Handle
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the right front tire and wheel.
3. Remove the right stabilizer shaft link from the right lower control arm.
4. Remove the right tie rod end from the right steering knuckle.
5. Remove the right lower ball joint from the right steering knuckle.
6. Disconnect the right drive axle from the transaxle.
7. Secure the right drive axle to the right steering knuckle and strut.
8. Use the J23129 and the J6125-1B to remove the seal.
Installation Procedure
1. Use a light wipe of transaxle fluid to lubricate the seal lip.
2. Use the J29130 and the J 8092 to install a new seal (4).
Important: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface or damage to the seal will occur.
3. Connect the drive axle to the transaxle.
4. Install the right lower ball joint to the right steering knuckle.
5. Install the right tie rod end to the right steering knuckle.
6. Install the right stabilizer shaft link to the right steering knuckle.
7. Install the right front tire and wheel.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Adjust the fluid level.
10. Inspect for fluid leaks.
