IP Carrier Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the left sound insulator.
3. Remove the right sound insulator.
4. Remove the left instrument panel (IP) outer trim panel.
5. Remove the right instrument panel (IP) outer trim panel.
6. Remove the defroster grille.
7. Remove the IP upper trim pad.
8. Remove the knee bolster.
9. Disconnect the body to IP electrical connectors (1) at top, right outside corner of the IP.
10. Disconnect the center IP to body harness electrical connector.
11. Remove the IP retainer.
12. Lower the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
13. Remove the IP carrier fasteners.
14. Remove the IP carrier from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the IP carrier to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install IP carrier fasteners (1,2).
Tighten the IP carrier fasteners (1,2) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
3. Install the IP carrier fasteners (3).
Tighten the IP carrier fasteners (3) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
4. Install the IP retainer.
5. Connect the body to IP electrical connector (1) at the top, right outside corner of the IP.
6. Connect the center IP to body harness electrical connector.
7. Install the steering column.
8. Install the knee bolster.
9. Install the IP upper trim pad.
10. Install the defroster grille.
11. Install the right IP outer trim panel.
12. Install the left IP outer trim panel.
13. Install the left sound insulator.
14. Install the right sound insulator.
15. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
