Sunroof / Moonroof: Service and Repair

SUNROOF MODULE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. The old sunroof window and sunshade will need to be installed to the new sunroof module assembly.

IMPORTANT: A new sunroof module assembly will not have the sunroof window or sunshade as components of the new service part.

2. Remove the sunroof sunshade panel.
3. Remove the headliner.
4. Disconnect the sunroof harness from the body harness at the right rear pillar.
5. Disconnect the front drain hose connections from the sunroof housing.
6. Disconnect the rear drain hose connections from the sunroof housing.




7. Remove the 4 sunroof module bracket to side rail bolts.
8. Remove the 6 sunroof module to roof bolts.
9. Remove the sunroof module at the actuator bracket bolt (center rear).
10. The old sunroof window and sunshade will need to be installed to the new sunroof module assembly.

IMPORTANT: Use two white nylon locator pins in order to correctly position the sunroof module and temporarily hold the module in place.

11. Remove the sunroof module from the vehicle through the door opening.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the sunroof module in the vehicle. Press up to install the two white nylon locator/retainers.
2. Install the sunroof module actuator bracket bolt.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the 6 sunroof module to roof bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Install the 4 sunroof module bracket to side rail bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

5. Connect the front and rear drain hoses to the sunroof housing.




6. Properly route the rear hoses in the metal roof slot and tape the hoses in place.
7. Connect the sunroof harness to the body harness at the right rear pillar.
8. Install the sunroof sunshade panel.
9. Temporarily install the power sunroof switch and check the operation of the sunroof.
10. Install the headliner.
