Receiver Replacement - Digital Radio
RECEIVER REPLACEMENT - DIGITAL RADIOREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the left rear compartment trim panel.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT swap digital radio receivers between vehicles. Swapping digital receivers between vehicles will activate the digital radio theftlock, "XM theftlock" will be displayed.
2. Loosen the digital receiver mounting bolts (1).
3. Slide the receiver and the bracket up and out of the keyhole slots in the rear reinforcement panel.
4. Disengage the electrical connector from the connection position assurance (CPA) (1).
5. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the digital radio receiver (1).
6. Disconnect the antenna connector (2).
7. Remove the digital receiver and bracket (1) from the vehicle.
8. Remove the nuts (1) securing the receiver bracket to the digital radio receiver.
9. Remove the digital radio receiver from the receiver bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the digital radio receiver to the receiver bracket.
2. Install the nuts (1) that secure the receiver to the bracket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
3. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the digital receiver (1).
4. Engage the electrical connector to the CPA.
5. Connect the antenna connector (2) to the digital receiver (1).
6. If removed, loosely install the mounting bolts to the bracket to a depth of 3-4 threads.
7. Align the receiver and bracket assembly to the keyhole slots in the rear reinforcement, with the electrical connection end towards the rear compartment floor.
8. Install the receiver mounting bolts (1) to the keyhole slots. Slide the receiver and bracket down.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
9. Install the left rear compartment trim panel.
10. Perform the setup procedure for the digital radio receiver. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Setup.
11. Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio.
The ESN will be needed for activation of the new receiver.
IMPORTANT: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.
The vehicle must be parked in view of a satellite within 24 hours after an activation call.
12. Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
13. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
14. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC (accessory) position and the radio turned ON for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
15. Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
