Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the left inner fender brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Loosen the air inlet duct clamp at the throttle body.
3. Remove the air inlet duct from the throttle body.




4. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube from the air inlet duct. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




5. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the upper air cleaner housing from the lower housing. Disengage the tabs on the upper housing from the slots on the lower housing.
7. Without disconnecting the engine control module (ECM) connectors, remove the ECM and the harness from the lower air cleaner housing.
8. Without disconnecting the transmission control module (TCM) connectors, remove the TCM and the harness from the lower air cleaner housing.
9. Loosen the air inlet duct clamp at the air cleaner assembly.
10. Remove the air inlet duct from the air cleaner.




11. Remove the lower air cleaner housing by pulling the housing from the 2 rubber grommets on the inner rail.
12. Inspect the air cleaner housing assembly for signs of damage and replace if necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the lower air cleaner housing by pushing the housing down into the 2 rubber grommets on the inner rail.
2. Install the TCM and the harness to the lower air cleaner housing.
3. Install the ECM and the harness to the lower air cleaner housing.




4. Install the air inlet duct to the air cleaner assembly.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

5. Tighten the air inlet duct clamp at the air cleaner assembly.

Tighten the clamp to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

6. Install the upper air cleaner housing to the lower housing. Engage the tabs on the upper housing to the slots on the lower housing.
7. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.




8. Connect the PCV tube to the air inlet duct. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




9. Install the air inlet duct to the throttle body.
10. Tighten the air inlet duct clamp at the throttle body.

Tighten the clamp to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

11. Install the left inner fender brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement (Service and Repair).
