65. Engine Block Plug Installation

Engine Block Plug Installation





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the threaded oil gallery plugs and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).




2. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the threads of the engine block heater.
3. Install the engine block heater and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).




4. Install the remaining oil gallery plugs using GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or the equivalent.




5. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or the equivalent to the threads of the knock sensor.
6. Install the knock sensors and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
7. Install the knock sensor heat shield and bolts, if applicable and tighten the knock sensor heat shield bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
