Campaign - Front Seat Adjuster Inoperative

SERVICE UPDATE

Bulletin No.: 10195

Date: June 21, 2010

Subject: 10195 - Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles - Front Seat Adjustment Inoperative - Expires with Base Warranty

Models:
2011 Buick Regal

This service update includes vehicles in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealership for any reason. It will expire at the end of the involved vehicle's New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.

Purpose

This bulletin provides a service procedure to inspect and, if necessary, install protection to the driver and passenger front seat wire harness on certain 2011 model year Buick Regal vehicles. The wire harness on these vehicles may contact the seat height adjuster bracket and begin to chafe, preventing the seat(s) from being adjusted.

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.

Vehicles Involved

A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in GM GlobalConnect (US), or attached to the GlobalConnect message (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.

Important
Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Investigate Vehicle History. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.

Parts Information

Parts required to complete this service update are to be obtained from General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales (GMCC&A). Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

The protector will not be listed in the catalog and will not be eligible for RIM management.

Service Procedure

Note
Removal of the front seat side cover is not necessary.

1. The area that needs to be inspected is inside the shaded area (1), behind the front seat side cover as shown in the picture.
2. Position the front seat by first moving the seat to the full upper position, then to the full rear position, and finally to the full cushion tilt.
3. Inspect the wiring harness to determine if the protector and tie strap are present.

- If the protector and tie strap ARE present on the driver and passenger seats, no further action is required.
- If the protector and tie strap are NOT present on either the driver or passenger seat, proceed to the next step.

4. Check if the wrapping of the wiring harness (1) is damaged. Repair wire harness, if necessary. Refer to appropriate wire repair procedures in SI.

Note
Push the wire harness towards the front seat side cover to ease the installation of the Velcro tape.

5. Apply Velcro tape (1) around the structure edge.

Note
The twisted sleeve (protector) is well positioned when one of the ends is pushed rearward until contacting the wiring harness edge clip.

6. Wrap the twisted sleeve (protector) (1) around the wiring harness.

Note
The head of the cable tie must be positioned in the lower position as shown in the picture.

7. Install the cable tie (2) around the wiring harness and metal bar to secure the protector (1).
8. Cycle the front seat height and tilt adjustment 3 full times and inspect afterwards that the reworked area is still intact.

1. Submit a claim using the table below.
