Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1982---85 V8-250 ELDORADO & SEVILLE
1. Raise and support vehicle and drain engine oil. Remove oil filter.
2. Remove flywheel cover, then remove final drive assembly.
3. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold, then remove front suspension stone shield.
4. Remove bolts securing engine mount to frame crossmember.
5. Remove oil pan bolts and nuts, then lower exhaust pipe and remove oil pan from vehicle. To facilitate oil pan removal, place suitable jack under cylinder head ledge of crankcase or against cylinder head, and raise engine just enough to remove oil pan.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Use suitable RTV sealer in sufficient quantities when installing pan. Torque pan attaching bolts to 10 to 11 ft. lbs.
