1. If lamp remains lit with engine running and coolant temperature normal, disconnect orange ECM electrical connector with engine static and ignition on.
2. If lamp remains lit, check for short circuit in circuit 35, Fig. 26, between ECM and lamp.
3. If lamp goes out, check for damaged ECM electrical connector. If connector is satisfactory, replace ECM.
4. If coolant warning lamp never lights, check that ``Check Engine'' lamp, or ``Service Soon'' and ``Service Now'' lamps light.
5. If ``Check Engine'' lamp, or one or both of the ``Service'' lamps light, check for burned out coolant warning bulb or open circuit in circuit 35.
6. If check engine lamp does not light, check for open circuit 39 and repair as necessary.
