Oil Pump
Disassembly1. Remove drive gear and driven gear.
2. Remove and discard pump body to case O-ring seal.
Inspection
1. Inspect gear pocket, crescent drive gear and driven gear for nicks, burrs, scoring or galling.
2. Check pump body face to gear face clearance, see image. Clearance should be .0013-0035 inch.
3. Check face of pump body for nicks, burrs, scoring or galling.
4. Inspect bushing for nicks, burrs, scoring, galling, out of round or excessive wear.
5. Install pump body on torque converter hub and check for out of round condition between pump bushing and converter hub.
6. Check for damaged case cover bolt holes.
7. Inspect front seal for damage.
Assembly & Installation
1. If removed, install front seal. Use a non-hardening sealing compound on outside edge of seal before installation.
2. Install driven pump gear with identification mark down against gear pocket of pump body, see image.
3. Install drive gear into pump body with identification marks on drive tang up.
4. Install new pump to case seal rings.
5. Install two guide bolts into pump attaching screw holes, then install pump spacer plate onto pump face, see image. Make sure it is properly aligned.
6. Align guide pins with matching holes in case cover and insert flathead screws into open holes in pump body.
7. Tighten flathead screws, then remove guide pins, insert remaining flathead screws and torque all screws to specifications.
8. Inspect turbine shaft seals, replace if damaged then install turbine shaft.
