Transmission Case

Inspection

1. Inspect case assembly for damage, cracks, porosity or interconnected oil passages.

2. Inspect orifice plug in case-cover face.

3. Inspect exhaust passages to make sure they are open.

4. Inspect reverse clutch lugs, governor bore, intermediate servo bore and snap ring grooves for damage.

5. Inspect reverse clutch seal and intermediate band anchor pin for damage.

6. Inspect vent assembly in case for damage. Do not remove unless replacement is required.

7. Inspect for damaged or stripped bolt holes. if necessary, renew threads using heli-coil inserts.

8. Inspect cooler line connectors. Do not remove unless replacement is required. If removed or replacing, coat threads of connector with sealer and torque to specifications. If case vent was inadvertently removed from case, apply Loctite primer "T" to outer diameter of vent and Loctite 35 to vent hole in case. Gently tap vent into case using plastic mallet.
