"Low Brake Fluid" Message and "Brake" Telltale

TEST CONDITION(S)
None

FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1)Brake fluid level low for 1 second.

ACTION TAKEN
1) Display "Low Brake Fluid" message on Driver Information Center (DIC).
2)Turn on "Brake" telltale on Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

DESCRIPTION
The BCM and the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) monitor the brake fluid level input on circuit 853. The brake fluid level sensor is open with normal brake fluid level and closes if the brake fluid level drops too low.

If the brake fluid level switch closes for more than 1 seconds, the BCM and EBCM will detect a low voltage on circuit 853. The BCM will send the "Low Brake Fluid" message to the DIC and the EBCM will ground circuit 852, turning on the "Brake" telltale.

DIAGNOSIS
Condition Possible Causes
Erroneous Message short to ground on circuit 853 or shorted sensor
No Message open in circuit 853, open in sensor, or open in circuit 1033
