Air Delivery
Air Delivery Schematic:
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The air valves in the air conditioning system are operated by mechanical and vacuum controls which are controlled by solenoid valves in the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) programmer.
The outside air recirculation valve, heater-a/c bi-level valve, and a/c-defrost valve are controlled individually by vacuum actuators. The ECC programmer operates the valves according to Body Control Module (BCM) commands which are transmitted to the ECC programmer.
The ECC programmer also controls a motor and an air mix valve potentiometer. The motor controls the air mix valve which determines the air flow amount directed through the heater core. The motor runs in forward or reverse direction by changing the applied voltage polarity. The ECC programmer uses the air mix valve position feedback to calculate air mix valve positioning.
