E064

DFI Cruise Control Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

Code E064 is designed to set when the vehicle speed is increasing at an extremely rapid rate (wheelspin). It is a protective measure so that the wheels will not be under cruise control when on ice. If code E064 is stored as an intermittent code and the customer complains of frequent loss of cruise control, drive the car while observing ECM data ED12, vehicle speed. If the speed displayed is erratic, check the operation and integrity of the speed sensor circuit.

Code E064 sets when vehicle speed increases greater than 5 MPH in one second with the cruise engaged. If code E064 is set, cruise will disengage and code E064 will store in memory - NO TELLTALES ARE ILLUMINATED. Most occurrences of code E064 are caused by wheel spin due to icy or wet conditions. If code E064 is found and no other cruise control faluts exists, clear codes and road test. If code E064 sets without wheelspin occurring, see ECM REPLACEMENT CHECK, CHART C-1.

TEST CONDITIONS:

1. Cruise control enabled.
2. Cruise control engaged.

FAILURE CONDITIONS: Vehicle speed increases more than 4 MPH in 2/3 second.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Disengage cruise control.

WHEN ALL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED, CLEAR CODES AND VERIFY OPERATION
