The purpose of this Teves anti-lock brake system, is to prevent wheel lockup under heavy brake application.
The anti-lock function is desirable because a vehicle which is stopped without locking the wheels will normally stop in a shorter distance than a vehicle with locked wheels, while retaining directional stability and some steering capability. This allows the vehicle's operator to retain greater control of the vehicle during heavy brake application.
Major components of the anti-lock brake system include the electronic brake control module (EBCM), hydraulic unit, pump/motor assembly, wheel speed sensors and specific fuses and relays. Refer to Figs. 1 through 5, for system schematic and system component locations.
