Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

Transmission Temperature Sensor:

The Transmission Temperature Sensor is mounted in the transmission cooler line. The sensor measures the temperature of the transmission fluid as it leaves the transaxle and provides this information to the Electronic Control Module (ECM). The Transmission Temperature Sensor is a thermistor whose resistance changes as a function of temperature. When the temperature is low, the resistance is high. The resistance decreases as the temperature increases. The Transmission Temperature Sensor is a two wire sensor, which receives a voltage signal from the ECM to one sensor pin and a reference ground at the other sensor pin.
