Status Lights
Status Lights:
DESCRIPTION:
While in the diagnostic mode, the mode indicators on the Climate Control Panel (CCP) are used to indicate the status of certain system operating modes. The different modes of operation are indicated by the status light either being illuminated or turned off.
A brief summary of ECM status indicators is provided below:
1. The "AUTO" status indicator is illuminated whenever the ECM is operating in "closed-loop" fuel control. This light should come on after the coolant and oxygen sensors have reached normal operating temperatures.
2. The "ECON" status indicator is illuminated whenever the oxygen sensor signal to the ECM indicates a "rich" exhaust condition. This light should toggle between "rich" and "lean" (flash on and off) during warm engine steady throttle operation.
3. The "OFF" status indicator is illuminated whenever the ECM senses that the throttle switch is closed. This light should be off whenever the throttle is applied. NOTE: If a hard code E26 or E27 is present, the status indicator will represent the fail soft value. The status light will be "ON" if the brake is pressed and the throttle angle is 11 degrees or less. The status light will be "OFF" if the brake is released or the throttle angle is 11 degrees or greater. If ECM codes are cleared and diagnostics are not exited, the status light will then indicate the actual circuit conditions.
4. The "FRONT DEFOG" status indicator is illuminated whenever the ECM is commanding the VCC to engage. This light only indicates whether the ECM is commanding the VCC to be enabled or disabled. Actual operation depends on the integrity of the VCC system.
5. The "REAR DEFOG" status indicator is illuminated whenever the ECM senses that the 4th gear pressure switch is open. This light should only be on while in 4th gear operation.
