HVAC System
The following Functional Test sequence aids in determining whether the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) system electrical, air distribution, vacuum or refrigeration systems are functioning properly.
NOTE: The first step for A/C System Diagnosis is the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) System Check. This test which takes only a couple of minutes, can save a lot of time and lead you to the correct procedure to repair the problem.
Functional Test:
FUNCTIONAL TEST
The temperature of the air should be at least 4°C (4O°F); the engine should be warmed to normal operating temperature.
1. Set temperature to 16°C (60°F). Turn the ECC system "OFF" and "ON."
- The compressor should turn on and off with every push of the 'OFF/ON' switch.
2. With the ECC system "ON," switch the mode buttons to their various positions and check which air outlets release air.
- The actual outlets employed when each mode push button is pushed should correspond to the outlets on the push button.
3. Check to make sure the blower fan is operating properly; run the 'HI' and 'ECON' settings at various temperatures to check the blower motor function.
Successful completion of these test procedures indicates that the electrical and vacuum-controlled air distribution systems are functioning properly.
