1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove sound insulators, Figs. 6 and 7.
4. Remove screw securing left side A/C outlet duct extension and remove duct.
5. Remove two steering column cover retaining screws and lower cover.
6. Remove A/C left side outlet duct extension retaining screw, then the duct.
7. Remove instrument panel retaining screws at each end of instrument panel.
8. Remove top cover attaching screw through access hole located in top of glove box liner.
9. Remove four top cover to cowl retaining screws located in the defroster grilles.
10. Remove top cover by pulling panel up and out of retaining clips.
11. Using a 1/16 inch Allen wrench, loosen key on bottom of each center outlet grille directional knob, then remove knobs.
12. Remove four center trim panel retaining screws, then the trim panel.
13. Remove remaining grille directional knob.
14. Remove six trim panel retaining screws, then the trim panel.

15. Remove four instrument cluster retaining screws, Fig. 8.
16. Remove upper steering column mounting bolts and set column on front seat.
17. Remove two windshield wiper switch retaining screws.
18. Remove three headlamp switch to instrument panel retaining screws.
19. On models equipped with cruise control, remove two cruise control switch retaining screws, then slide switch forward.
20. Disconnect switch two piece electrical connector.
21. Remove twilight Sentinel wiring if equipped.
22. On all models, remove headlamp switch retaining nut, then the switch from housing.
23. Remove two 10 mm mounting bolts and ground strap from chime mounting bracket.
24. Remove 10 mm retaining nut from stud on bottom of radio chassis.
25. Pull chime module, bracket and chime wiring downward, then position aside.
26. Disconnect antenna lead.
27. Pull radio chassis down and pivot towards front of car until connector end of chassis is horizontal with floorpan.
28. Disconnect (2) electrical connectors from side opposite coax cable.
29. Pull chassis out from behind instrument panel and disconnect three electrical connectors.
30. Remove two ECC head retaining screws.
31. Disconnect electrical connector from ECC head, then the EEC.
32. Remove right side mirror remote control retaining screws, then the remote control.

33. Remove three glove box liner retaining screws, Fig. 9.
34. Remove four glove box door retaining screws, then remove accessory relay bracket and position aside.
35. Remove four upper instrument panel retaining screws and two lower instrument panel retaining bolts.
36. Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors.
37. Remove instrument panel.
38. Reverse procedure to install.
39. Reactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
