Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Self-Diagnosis System

1. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS to perform the SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK.
2. Refer to the proper diagnostic chart, as directed by the SIR Diagnostic System Check.
3. Repeat the SIR Diagnostic System Check after any repair or diagnostic procedure has been performed.
Performing the SIR Diagnostic System Check after all repair or diagnostic procedures will ensure the repair has been made correctly and no other malfunctions exist.

Trouble Codes
In the event of an SIR system malfunction, the DERM will store a related trouble code in memory and notify the driver of a malfunction by illumination of the SIR warning lamp.
Trouble codes may be read through flashing of the warning lamp, on board diagnostics, or the use of a SCAN/TECH tool.

Current Codes
Current codes are faults that are presently being detected or have not been successfully cleared because the malfunction still exists. If the battery has been disconnected, all current codes will be erased. Do not disconnect battery if an SIR system malfunction exists and trouble codes have not been retrieved.

History Codes
History codes are all faults detected since the DERM memory was last cleared. If a history code is present, the related malfunction may not necessarily exist. History codes may only be erased using a SCAN/TECH tool.
