System Operation Check
THE ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL (ECC) SYSTEM CHECK IS AN ORGANIZED APPROACH FOR IDENTIFYING A PROBLEM CAUSED BY THE ON-CAR COMPUTER-CONTROLLED ELECTRONICS. UNDERSTANDING THIS CHART AND USING IT CORRECTLY WILL REDUCE DIAGNOSIS TIME AND PREVENT UNNECESSARY REPLACEMENT OF PARTS. IF YOU HAVE NOT REVIEWED THE BASIC INFORMATION ON HOW TO USE THE COMPUTER SELF-DIAGNOSTICS, DO SO.
TEST DESCRIPTION
1. The Climate Control Panel (CCP) must be functional in order to use the Self-Diagnostic system. Check if the panel illuminates and responds when the buttons are depressed.
2. After entering diagnostics, record all displayed trouble codes and note those displayed during both the first and second pass. Codes displayed during the first pass only are intermittents and may require a visual inspection of circuitry to isolate. Codes displayed during the second pass are hard malfunctions which can be diagnosed using the procedures outlined in the corresponding charts.
