R052

Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When there is a frontal crash of sufficient force to activate the Dual Pole Arming Sensor and at least one of the three Discriminating Sensors simultaneously Code R051 is set, and the DERM will record information regarding SIR system status and vehicle status in EEPROM. Code R052 is set when the area within the EEPROM reserved for this information is full (8 frontal crash events).
TEST CONDITION(S)
Tested every 100 milliseconds while 'Continuous Monitoring' tests active.
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
DERM's EEPROM area reserved for accident data is detected to be full (8 frontal crash events) for 100 milliseconds.
ACTION TAKEN
1. DERM turns on the 'INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' indicator at least until the next ignition cycle.
2. 'SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' message is displayed on DIC.
3. Current Code R052 must be cleared using a scan tool clear code command. However, if on the next ignition cycle the DERM's EEPROM area reserved for the accident data is detected to be full during 'Continuous Monitoring' tests, History Code R052 sets and remains in the DERM thereafter. This clears the active state and allows the 'Inflatable Restraint' indicator to light for additional faults. It does not allow for future accident information to be stored.
